Hi,
1) We are facing memory issue with using samba-3.0.37 and log shows the following message continuously. >> nmbd:@@@@@PANIC: failed to create UCS2 buffer >> nmbd:@@@@@PANIC: failed to create UCS2 buffer >>nmbd:@@@@@PANIC: failed to create UCS2 buffer This issue occurred when we continuously access the fileshare (say more than 1000 times). We are analysing how to relate this issue with nmbd. But, wanted to confirm, Is samba-3.0.37 has any memory issues? 2) While analysing network capture for the above issue, SMB Client sends the "NT QUERY SECURITY DESC" request while accessing FileShare? On which scenario, this request is sent to SMB server since it is not seen in normal file share access? Best Regards, Sathis Please do not print this email unless it is absolutely necessary. Is it possible that you upgrade to a later version? Is it "continued" -> "discontinued" of course. Hi Volker,
Thanks for the reply and we are considering for samba upgrade . Since Samab version-3.0.37 is currently already running our environment and upgrade takes sometime, we are analysing this issue. BTW, any idea for the below query? >>While analysing network capture for the above issue, SMB Client sends the "NT QUERY SECURITY DESC" request while accessing FileShare? On which scenario, this request is sent to SMB server since it is not seen in normal file share access? I have stopped asking when and in particular why Windows does anything a long time ago. You might want to ask Microsoft themselves, maybe something like filemon gives you hints.
